GNOME 3.0 is here

GNOME (GNU Network Object Model Environment) is a graphical user interface that runs on top of a computer operating system (notably Linux).
It is developed by “The GNOME Project” and launched on 6th April 2011(version 3.0).



Notable features of GNOME 3.0:
  • Simply beautiful: It is more pleasing to the eyes than the previous versions.
  • Activities Overview: This allows you to see which applications are currently running.
  • Integrated Messaging: GNOME 3.0 has an integrated messaging system which allows to directly respond from notification popups.


  • Easy Search: Documents, files, settings can be easily searched by typing into the search box.


  • Organized system settings: System settings have been completely redesigned, making them easier to use.





  • Improved API: Side by side window tiling to make work easier (similar to Aero Snap on Windows 7).
