Android 4.1 Jelly Bean revealed at Google I/O 2012


Google I/O kicked off with a huge announcement - Google's new mobile operating system Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Android 4.1, Jelly Bean, is the fastest and smoothest version of Android yet. Jelly Bean improves on the simplicity and beauty of Android 4.0(ICS), and introduces a new Google search experience on Android.

Google also introduced Project Butter - a major effort to make the Jelly Bean experience "buttery smooth".


Expandable actionable Notificationsusers can now return phone calls from within the notifications bar, as well as view multiple emails without having to jump into a separate app.

Intelligent widgetsWith Jelly Bean it’s now even easier to personalize your home screen. As you place widgets on the screen, everything else automatically moves to make room.

Google Now - A new form of search that ties your browsing and navigation histories together to anticipate your needs. In the demo,  Google’s Hugo Barra showcased how the new system could help to calculate a user's commute, replete with alternate route suggestions and even scheduling info, recommend nearby restaurants as they're passed and keep users abreast of impending appointments with departure time recommendations.
